Phil Richardson has written over 150 short stories of which eighty have been published. He lives in Athens, Ohio with his wife, Joyce, who is also a writer. Two of his stories were nominated for Pushcart Prize in Fiction awards and several stories have placed in fiction contests. Unique stories--fun with a strange world!

This amazing collection of short stories is full of characters and situations that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck or give you that squeamish laugh about something bizarre. You know it's not real, but the author draws you in slyly with an everyday context that quickly devolves into the fantastic and surreal. One does wonder about the author's sanity, but you can't argue with his genius. If you want to have some fun and sample a bit of mischief on the dark side, you will savor these quirky stories. As did I!

Give me eccentricity, or give me death!

Unlike novels, which take hours and often several sittings to finish, short stories share with most poetry anthologies the fact that they consist of brief, bite-sized little gems that make for satisfying interludes of any length of time one has at leisure. These well crafted pieces of Phil Richardson make ideal bedside or beach reading though, like potato chips, you may find you can't stop at just one. Many of them end in unexpected twists, evoking the styles of Maugham, Stockton, de Maupassant, or O'Henry. Their quirkiness will challenge your ability to predict the hidden "zinger" that punctuates the story. So, all you aficionados of the short story, treat yourselves to some fine, mind bending tales of crows and buzzards; the re-virgination of Mary; the demographic, psychological, and ethical distortions that result from humanity's achieving immortality; a new twist on Heaven supported by faith-based mythologies, the divorcee who clones his ex to get another chance at making it work, and many other often jarring new ways of seeing the complex texture and richness of life.
