Definitely worth a read or listen.

I enjoyed book 2 better than book 1. Although he was still just having a rant he was a little more PC this time and I could still understand his frustrations. The is life in the reading, full of expression and frustration. I think most people could understand the frustrations. It is a short book, perfect for a single session rather than spread over time. Definately worth a read or listen.

Twists of Spiritual Insight

Author Peter Lundell's short stories are told with raw honesty, vivid language, and twists of spiritual insight. Easy to read, but not superficial, these stories challenge and provoke, like parables that hold a deeper meaning.
An integral part of this book is the appendix, "Thoughts and Questions for Personal Reflection and Group Discussion." Readers discover the author's reason for writing each story followed by commentary and related questions that invite reflective thinking. Such as, "We may think that God is against us, when we really suffer from our own thinking and behavior. Amazingly, God lets us go on like this as long as we choose to . . ."

Awesome read!

If you want to come home and relax with a good book that is easy to read I recommend Short Stories for the Soul by Peter Lundell. Each story is short, yet very descriptive which pulls you easily into the story. I enjoyed the differences in the stories and found them to be very interesting. They took me on a mini journies.

I loved the short stories and the way Peter draws you in to a wonderful life lesson at the end of each story. It is well worth the read! I am going to encourage my older grandchildren to read this book. Thank you Peter!

James Sanderson joined the Australian Army Reserve at the age of 17 with little appreciation for what adventures lay in store. His ten years as a weekend warrior were mainly spent as a Gunner within the confines of his home country, but he later jumped in ‘boots and all’ to go on a Radio Operator deployment with a Papua New Guinean platoon in the Solomon Islands. Somehow he survived Molotov cocktails, night patrols, being gassed and jumping out of a helicopter. All this in a place so hot he cooked his eggs on the bonnet of a jeep. Along the way he learnt about his new wontoks (friends) from all over the world, a bit about women and a lot about himself. He also discovered that things can get interesting if you have a bonfire with marijuana plants, that you never know what might face you in the fridge at night, and why you should never play soccer in a field of coconut trees. Hello!

I was an Army Reservist for 10 years. Loved the work, loved the people, and loved the experience. For my sins, I was selected to be a part of an Artillery Battery unit in Sydney. Over the ten year span I was involved in a whole range of duties.  From firing the 105mm Howitzer, to being a Radio Operator in the Battery's Command Post and finally, to being someone who could observe targets in the far distance and be the one to authorize Artillery fire onto them. It's an experience one can never forget. A few years after enlisting I began to get cold feet.  I wanted a different kind of adventure, and one that was built on two simple principles. Firstly, I wanted to go overseas - anywhere! It didn't matter.  Secondly, and most importantly, I didn't want to pay a cent for it!   That opportunity came to me in the spring of 2007. I was fortunate enough to be selected for an overseas posting to the Solomon Islands as a radio operator for six months.
 The best part of it was, as an Australian soldier, I was attached to the Papua New Guinea Army. Now.... Being immersed in a culture that 'do things' very differently was both a shock and a rewarding time. I would teach them how to use a computer, GPS and use basic radio systems. In return they would teach me all kinds of bush tricks. Everything from creating fire from rubbing sticks, weaving baskets using thick grass and simply how to survive in the jungle. I kept a daily diary of my experiences as a momento kind of thing.  But after I came back to Australia, I starting thinking..... Maybe I could write a book about it? My grammar was (still is) terrible but over a 7 year period I slowly began to transform my experience onto paper. I would dabble here and there, scribble people's names on the photos I kept. It took a long time of cutting and editing, but I finally managed to scrounge up a story to share.
Looking back, the Army Reserves really helped mold my attitude and full-time career. Firstly, for me, I found that I had greater favor with employers when they noted my reserve experience on the Resumes. It was simply a case of 'We want people who aren't afraid to get out of the office and get their hands dirty'. In fact, my current employer was once a reservist himself! The 45 minute interview instantly became an exchange of 'Weekend Warrior' stories and laughs.   
Secondly, the Army Reserve wasn't just a Part-Time job to me. It was also a family. We were brothers. If someone needed a pat on the back, we were there. If someone needed a few bob to get themselves out of a pickle, no one needed to ask. It's simply a great community to be involved with.
Finally, if you are the fortunate soul to pick this book up. I encourage you to flip through the pages and see if this lifestyle is for you. I hope that these stories will encourage more people to consider the possibility of enlisting. I feel that a lot of people still think that you have to be a fitness freak with a cold attitude to even be considered, and yet, as you will no doubt be able to tell from reading my stories, I am a little eccentric who panics too quickly. Despite this, there was still a job for me. A job that took me all over the east coast of Australia and overseas. Not to mention there are a few shiny medals in my display cabinet that I like to look at now and then.
Also for those who were former members of the Reserves or CMF, if any of you have a story to share, I am very keen to hear it. The concept behind this book was for others to come forward with their own records and put them on paper. Ideally, I want to have a series similar to Footrot Flats, with a few added illustrations for a bit of hearty entertainment.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It looked at the funny and unusual side of Army Reserves and some of those stories you probably heard rumors about really are true!!!. A good bit of Fun and if you have served in the Forces then you will know what I mean.

Debo decir que leer este libro me hizo rememorar los años que pasé en mi país natal. Cada frase me dejó ese sabor de lo conocido, pero casi olvidado. Valentina Truneanu logra dibujar personajes que en su propia ficción se tornan reales y tangibles, y que además se complementan con un toque de humor fresco e inteligente que te hace detener y releer el resultado final. Desde sus primeras páginas hasta las últimas, la autora nos muestra que las reglas protocolares de la escritura están presentes para ser trastocadas a su antojo y llevadas a nosotros, los lectores, para nuestro gran disfrute. Un libro fabuloso que recomiendo un 100%.

She currently has a small private counseling practice and works in an ER in Charlotte, NC. Laura combines her passion for social work, corny sense of humor and love of public speaking by giving talks about the value of humor in clinical practice and preventing compassion fatigue.

I always like seeing ridiculous conspiracy theories on the internet and reading what the tinfoil hat society have to say about current events. This book is about one such person who has yet to meet a conspiracy he doesn't wholeheartedly believe. This time however maybe the conspiracy is more than just a theory. An excellent and unique story that is well written and exciting from the beginning. Ned is a very interesting character, an odd yet relatable man.
