A delightful story from the actual good old days in a small Texas town

I just finished reading this book. Because I too, grew up in a small town in Texas, namely, Kermit, this story could have easily been part of my life.
Life in the '50's and '60's in one of those little towns was extremely simple, respectful, honest, reverent, safe and happy. The kind of time and place everyone should be lucky to live in.
Mr. Walker did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of the time. Kids did get to ride their bike safely all around town. Kids did get scared of the scarey black and white movies even without special effects. People didn't necessarily have much money but they usually had enough for entertainment and food. People did take responsibility for their own and for their kid's actions. People were truthful about the important stuff but kids did embellish the facts sometimes in order to appear equal to those they admired. People were respectful to each other and cared about each other.
Thank you Mr. Walker for the flood of wonderful memories "Binker and Bosco Go To The Movies" brought back to me. (And thanks to Tinker too!)

Great Story!

Ok,in the interest of full disclosure, the author and I are somewhat related. So we've shared many of the same experiences in the same small Texas towns. With that out of the way, I laughed until I cried reading this story. He so captures the way things were back then that it was like a time machine trip. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who would like to get a feel for those days. And I enjoyed the illustrations a lot. A great read for an intelligent "Tweener".
