"This collection of disgusting, horrifying, and psychological thriller-based zombie stories is the result of a challenge. One night Kyle Clements and I decided we should write a novella. We came up with the idea of writing stories based on a weekly challenge. Each week we would send each other a single word, for better or worse. Regardless the word we had to write at least 1,000 words about the topic. The stories that came out of the challenge are the most terrifying, depraved, sincere, and utterly unreadable works we could have hoped for.

The idea was further based on Edgar Allen Poe’s recommendation that a short story should be read within a single sitting. Given society’s recent changes in attention span we realized 1,000 words in a single sitting would be the best most people could accomplish.

When I introduced the idea to my mother she was excited, until she read the first story. Then she said 'I liked your last work better…'

When I sent the novella to our beta readers their responses were typically a mix between, 'This is really great' and 'I couldn’t finish this story, it was just too disgusting.'

In the end, I think we adequately accomplished our goal. A challenging read that is both interesting and disgusting at once. It is our hope that you will both enjoy this book and also hate it; yet not demand a refund."

Shaun Phelps, MS Shaun is a Licensed Mental Health counselor, psychology professor, and parenting instructor. He has a large variety of credentials including a specialization in anger and trauma, and over 8 years of experience working in the fields of child welfare, domestic violence, substance abuse, and parenting. He received a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Counseling (Clinical Mental Health) from Troy University and finished the coursework for a PhD in General Educational Psychology with Walden University. Shaun has been published in the professional field for his work in Parenting, and was previously released in Hunger Pangs: Dark Confessions and All Things Zombie: The Gathering Horde Kyle Clements is a writer, actor, filmmaker, composer and comic book model from Florida. I don't normally read short stories, however, this one was a very nice surprise collection of horrifying, thrilling and some downright disgusting zombie fiction.

This collection includes 20 stories written by Shaun Phelps or Kyle Clements with artwork by Dominique Divine on each story.

This compilation of stories was based on a weekly challenge by the authors to develop a story based on one word given by the other author. It is a fun little read when you don't have to time to read a full book.

I would not recommend some of these stories to those who have a weak​ stomach. Those of you who are not squeamish will definitely enjoy them.

My favorite story was Christmas Tree it is also the first story in the book. So give this book a chance and check it out.

Gruesomely amazing! Loved it!!!

I LOVE zombie stories! I love the books that get you so involved with the characters that leave you emotionally a mess when one of them dies. I fell in love with zombie stories way back when with my first movie…The Night of the Living Dead and then when The Walking Dead came out…I was in heaven! Every week I sit glued to my TV engrossed in each scene…waiting to see who will make it out alive. When I’m not watching zombie shows or movies, I am reading zombie books. I also LOVE short stories for those in between times when I just don’t want to get involved in a long book or I don’t have the time to really sit and get into one. Zombie Stories For Those With Short Attention Spans is one of the best…gruesome…bloody and creepy books filled with just what I love! Stories of zombies! The stories in this book will leave you shuddering…sick to your stomach(I wouldn’t suggest eating while reading this book) and might even leave you having nightmares BUT…I would highly recommend reading it if you…like me…LOVE anything and everything zombie!!! Shaun Phelps has quite an imagination with his descriptions of each story…leaving you with deeply disturbing images in your mind. But…THAT is what we zombie fanatics look for right? We want to have the scenes played out in our minds…just as if we were watching it on TV and this my friends is definitely one of those books. Please don’t hesitate to buy it because I know you will love it! You may be disturbed by some of them but in the end…you will be happy that you read them.

I already read more than the half of this book and honestly i could not wait to sit down and write a fast Review, because, People. if you like Zombies, you have to read this, you dont know what you are missing!
Each story is like a small drop of acid, concentrated and crazy, short but packed with hidden senses, some of them are obvious, others are hidden and you Need a litle bitt of time to let them sink in.

I loved Fungus because , really i dont know if in the end the mc turned or not, adored Herpes even if , really nobody wishes Herpes, this kind of Herpes was fun and shows the dark side of the human nature, especially the dark side of the animal called teenager...
Well, the Story with the large woman was somehow disgusting, but like a documentary movie that is really nasty you just have to keep watching so i had to keep reading about the human burgers...
Some of the Storys are a litle more spiritual, like the one about the father that notices that his son is dead only afther he himself turns into a Zombie, and the one with the baloons that dont rise because the sould is gone, the humans are filled with sins and not even there breath can rise to heaven...
I will keep reading, and re reading this stuff because it is just to fun to pass on!

"She rolled the lorha over the sil in gentle undulations, putting as much force as she could in every flick of her wrists. It took some effort to grind Masala, but she was used to it. The grinding stone flowed over the hard surface of its companion with ease, mashing the herbs and seasonings together until one began where the other had ended, seamlessly. Colours and scents mixed together to fill the kitchen with spicy richness. Her nose was filled with the warm scent of pepper and herbs, her fingers covered in it. She swept the moist mass together with the palms of her hands, centred them on the sil and began again, the finer she ground them the more flavour she would be able to glean from them. She added a small amount of water, her leaves, seeds and curry and continued. Her hands moved deftly over the surface; here was something she was comfortable doing, here was something she could do with her eyes closed. She hummed along with the radio as she worked, a soft tune about love and family that she had always enjoyed. She swayed along to the rhythm of the music as her fingers flew over the sil, the lorha a feather-weight in her hands. Her girls met each other in the front porch and she hear their loud peals of laughter already. Soon they would seek her out in the kitchen, but first they would catch each other up on what they had missed. She knew her younger would be on her swing, settled comfortably, while her elder daughter would gravitate immediately to one of the steel rocking chairs her grand father had had built. She had never been one to sit still." (The Masala Stone)

The moonlight shimmers along the dark street, lighting up the sidewalk. The air is still, waiting for approval, and he takes her in his arms and kisses her. He hoards her hand to himself as they hurry along the street to their usual destination. She remembers to breathe in and out, even as the musky scent of his cologne fills her stomach with tiny bursts of want. He says not a word to her as they arrive and take up their usual seat. She wishes they would forgo this part of the ritual so she could take him back home. " (Want)

"Lush green met her gaze as her eyes traversed the hillside. The northern range greenery always calmed her, filling her with peace and hope after every bout of depression. Her writer's mind saw similes in every green bower, metaphors in the arch of trunks against the hillside. Hope filled her as the morning sunshine lit up the grass below in verdant shades of emerald. She breathed deep of the mountain air and straightened her spine, taking strength from the aged immortelles spreading their century's old branches toward her window ledge. On impulse, she reached halfway out the window toward the branch and grabbed a fistful of the vermilion blooms, grinning as they spilled out onto the ledge and into her room, spreading across the floor with the breeze.
She tiptoed across the room, her mind travelling to the aftermath of a wedding, the bride and groom facing each other across a room covered in rose petals. The bride lowered her eyes and blushed, pulling her orni to shade her features as her new husband crossed to her. What was about to happen was unknown to her, this young girl from a far away village, but he assured her in a kiss that all would be well…" (From Tagore to Sunita)

Heart of Brightness

Jill Paris' "Life is a Walking Safari" is not merely about travel; indeed, it is about the challenge she embraces in life to see the world in all its splendor. This is a story about a life accepted instead of a life regretted.

As a Catholic, but more importantly, as a human, I believe her entry about Lourdes in particular resonates strongly whether you believe in God or not. The revelatory nature of her journey is an element of life that a lot of people wonder they will ever experience. It is also a moment a lot of people dread. Jill shows bravery and honesty in Lourdes, offering a glimpse of humanity that you just don't see in usual "travel writing."

Inherent in her writing is an enthusiasm for not just life, but for experiences. Her willingness to go to far-flung corners of the world and not merely cloister herself in things that she knows is a tremendous quality. It is a character aspect that others lack, and because they lack it, they don't know what they are missing. Her wealth of experiences and optimism is more valuable than any commodity.

Sometimes you read a piece of writing and never pick it up again. This won't be one of those books, because Jill writes in a way that helps . This is the kind of read that may only occupy a small portion of your kindle, but a much larger part of your imagination.

Jill Paris captures the humor of many situations she encounters in her travels. Some of her experiences are also poignant and bittersweet and the surprise endings left me wanting to read more. Jill Paris is the "Bridget Jones" of travel. Her crazy travel adventures would make a great movie!

What a delight! You've never read anything quite like Jill Paris. One minute she's making you laugh out loud, the next she's taken your breath away with some small, poignant moment that perfectly captures the foolishness or courage or hope or wonder of being human. Example of the funny: Jill in the throes of an ill-advised Parisian adventure with a couple of party girls half her age, whose insistence that she is "hot" makes her compare herself to "a chicken that's been taken out of the oven and left on the counter but might still be edible. Even though the time limit for actual hotness has passed, its lukewarm state could be overlooked by the truly starving." Or Jill shopping for a dirndl (a sort of Sound of Music outfit)--never mind WHY she wants to dress like that, the image she gives us of how she looks in those "sleeves with billows the size of eggplants," with her cleavage and everything else squished beyond recognition, is priceless. Example of the exquisitely poignant: Jill makes a pilgrimage to Lourdes, with powerful reasons to seek solace and hope there, but instead of finding answers to her own fears, she finds another human being, a woman named Salam, who needs the comfort and hope that Jill can give even more than Jill needs it for herself. Always self-deprecating, full of a bottomless lust for life and a totally quirky way of looking at the world, Jill Paris doesn't just find adventures when she travels, she makes them--whether she's crashing a wedding in Ireland where she doesn't know anybody, or wandering lost in Florence at four in the morning, or trying, none too successfully, to obey the safety rules on walking safari in Africa--she can find a story anywhere, and it wouldn't be the story anybody else would find. This is one of the most fun, touching, sweet books I've ever read, full of amazing little stories to come back to again and again.

Nice mix of puzzles for a recreational cruciverbalist

Over all a nice collection of crossword puzzles. No obscure catch phrases you've never heard of and you won't need a history degree or working knowledge of 14th century Japanese Kongorikishi to solve them. The average crossword solver will find a nice mix in this collection. Some are harder than other but all are solvable eventually.

I was torn between 3 or 4 stars because some of the puzzles are kind of easy. After mulling it over though, I decided being able to breeze through a couple here and there is a nice change up while doing them.

fun fresh puzzles

I've switched to Peter Gordon's puzzle books from Will Shortz's NY Times puzzles. These are a bit tougher given the same day of the week in my opinion. I think theses are more like NY Times Wednesdays. The spiral binding, 72 puzzles per book, good paper and print quality are all good features. Most of all, the themes and vocabulary are fresher and more fun than the NY Times, which get a bit repetitive, in my opinion.

it's not too challenging

I had his other one and it was great. I couldn't fill in everything in ten minutes, but if I came back I'd usually be able to get it all. It's so hard to find the right challenge. I used to do the Times daily in Ny when I was working and by Thursday my IQ had dropped significantly. Sunday was hit or miss and I know now that there were different levels of difficulty with those as well. Oh well. Keep on practicing.

Beginning a new sexy series that is very entertaining!

This book was totally awesome, so awesome that I had to buy it and I didn't have too because the author gave me an ARC for a honest review. It was amazing, fun and entertaining but Gods and Goddesses are always entertaining. Just think of Hercules but who didn't like Hercules because Kevin Sorbo was great eye candy.... This series is ne but definitely entertaining... Just try it I dare you! It is worth the 2.99, the price of a burger and basically cheaper because it doesn't add calories or pounds. However, you might burn some for just reading it.

As a fallen angel, Thane is assigned to watch over Amara, all Amara wants to do at the moment is help her , only these two are on a collision course with love due to the games that the Gods play in this captivating paranormal romance.

One little mistake and Thane was banished and now he one chance to return but once he figures out what he needs to do things become even more complicated and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the romance of the story as Thane and Amara’s burning attraction for one another becomes something more. The emotional aspect of this tale grips the heart as Thane and Amara both have some emotional decisions to make and the sizzling passion between them provides lots of scorching heat which adds lots of spice. The strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and the fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with suspense, turmoil and romance.

The suspense builds as Thane’s redemption rests on the decisions that he makes but also from the bargain struck between Chloe and Eros and the well written scenes and details brings it all to vibrant life while the tension building events ensure that the reader wants to know the whole story.

Thane and Amara’s romance set things in motion between Eros and Chloe, it is a compelling romance and a splendid start to this fascinating series full of intriguing possibilities and while you don’t have to read the series in order, it is easier to get the bigger picture, especially the details with the bet between Chloe and Eros, if you do read them in sequence.

The characters are fantastic and unique!. A bet between Eros,the God of Desire and Love and Chloe (Chlotho) the fate of Birth leads to a year of match-making and passion!. This book is January it features a super sexy Fallen Angel Thane. He has been exiled to Earth from Olympus for sleeping with one of Zeus's play things. It has been fifty years now Thane dedicates his life to helping those in need hoping Zeus will for give him. And allow him back on Olympus. One day he gets a visit from a watcher who gives him his tasks. It seems he has one more task to do and he can go home. The task is to protect a Amara a young woman from putting herself in danger. This might be easy if she did not keep going to the bad part of town looking for her twin brother. When Thane just sees a picture of her he feels something he has not felt for fifty years pure lust lol. When he helps her with her brother they can not keep their hands off each other lol. Will Thane get back to Olympus?. Will him and Amara fall in love?. and Can Chloe win her bet lol. This is an amazing and charming Romance series!!. It is a five-star plus book!.

Fabulous Book!

I LOVED this book..I bought a copy for myself and a friend and it became a daily call for us to talk about what we read and how so true to life the book was. We laughed for days .
This is a great read and would highly recommend it to anyone at any age.
